September 2011
We volunteered to help one evening with sorting the hundreds of pairs of eye glasses that will be distributed in Kenya. These have all been donated into drop boxes at various businesses around town and the area. They are then picked up by Lions Clubs in the area, sent for cleaning and rating, and then returned packaged and labelled for distribution where needed. A Better World has received four large cartons of these (between 600 and 700 pair) and we spent an evening with four other members of the travelling group sorting them by prescription and re-packing for the long journey.

A week later we attended a training session put on by Sandra and Donna (last names escape me) who are not travelling this year but have in previous years. There we learned how to perform the simple eye exam that will be used onsite in Kenya and then some tips and recommendations of how to match the right pair of glasses for the person according to the exam results and their needs.
