June 2011
After attending an information meeting in early June where we were presented with a general overview of the organization, their work, and the itinerary for this year’s trip to Kenya, we made the decision that the time was right to join the ever growing organization called A Better World. A Better World is an international humanitarian organization founded in 1990 under the leadership of Brian Leavitt and Eric Rajah, residents of Lacombe, Alberta. It’s mission is to reduce poverty in Third World countries through education, infrastructure, health, food security, and income-generating projects.

Charlie had been asked at an earlier date to consider this trip as a way of getting to see first hand some of the projects of A Better World and with hopes that he will take on some project management. As well, Nellie has been asked to be treasurer for this particular trip. At our second meeting, where now only those who are committed to the trip have been asked to attend, we signed up and for the Eye Care team.
